Activist Skills Training “Communication”
The final training of the Activist Skills Training Series took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 28th November to 1st December 2024. Seven young participants attended the training, including several who were engaging in a YEN event for the first time. Unfortunately, despite a strong interest from applicants representing diverse youth organisations in Albania, travel issues prevented their participation.
The focus of the training was on enhancing participants’ communication skills. Under the guidance of Adrianna Babijew, an experienced trainer recommended by BJDM, the programme seamlessly blended theory and practice, using non-formal education methodologies. Participants delved into topics such as non-violent communication, active listening, and techniques for managing stress in public speaking.
Interactive sessions, including team-building exercises, impromptu speeches, and group discussions, provided them with hands-on opportunities to refine their communication and presentation abilities Besides that, exchanges of constructive feedback enriched their learning experience and fostering mutual support among them.
Beyond the workshop, the event offered cultural exploration and community-building moments. The team and participants discovered the charm of Ljubljana’s scenic streets and festive Christmas markets. It created an ideal balance between focused learning and relaxed social interaction.
By the end of the training, the participants were not only left with enhanced communication tools that they can apply in their personal and organisational work but also with new connections.
This seminar was supported by the Council of Europe through the European Youth Foundation.
